The Aboriginal Child, Family and Community Care State Secretariat (AbSec) is recognised as the peak New South Wales (NSW) Aboriginal organisation to offer child protection and out-of-home care policy advice.
I applied for the Aurora Internship Program as an international development student with not a lot of exposure to working with an Aboriginal organisation, but a passion for social justice and a desire to learn more in a work environment.
As a Master of Social Work student in my final year at the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) I have been committed throughout my studies to developing my knowledge and capacity to help achieve better social justice outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
