In 2014, I graduated from a Bachelor of Science (Ecology and Conservation) at James Cook University, experiencing a whole lot of theory and research. However, I still aimed to gain one thing to set me apart from other graduates – industry experience.

Mid- year of 2015 I completed my Bachelor of Arts at James Cook University, while this degree was incredibly versatile and exposed me to a variety of subjects and disciplines, when approaching the end of my degree I was un-decided on what to do, or where to go next.
In January of 2013 I ventured off to a city I have always wanted to travel too because of the great stories I have heard about the snorkelling and diving experiences on its reefs – Cairns. Yet little did I know that there was so much more to this great city.
Cairns is a gateway to the wondrous Wet Tropics of Queensland World Heritage Area. A place that boasts of a diversity of wondrous landscapes, glistening streams, lush green rainforests, strong cultural connections and an exquisite biodiversity of plant and animal species.
In January 2014, I travelled to Cairns to undertake an internship as part of the Aurora Native Title Internship Program at the Wet Tropics Management Authority (WTMA).
In November 2015, I was accepted into the Aurora Internship Program, which eventuated to be one of my most memorable and rewarding experiences. I was very fortunate to be able to undertake this internship at the Wet Tropics Management Authority (WTMA), in Cairns.
The Wet Tropics World Heritage Area is a place of outstanding ecological importance.
Over the summer period of 2016/17, I was fortunate enough to undertake two separate Aurora internships, as part of the Aurora Internship Program.
I was very fortunate to have been accepted as a Social Science summer 2015/16 Aurora Intern while completing my Bachelor of Environmental Science (Environmental Management and Sustainability) at Deakin University, Melbourne.
